The client for this Belmont property was looking to maximize spaces to relax, garden and play in their backyard. This included redesigning an existing deck, re-grading the yard to be more level by installing a new stone retaining wall, screening adjacent tennis courts with plantings and designing an outdoor patio seating area for roasting marshmallows.
Elizabeth Gourley Design designed the pool patio upgrades for this existing in-ground pool in Boxborough, MA. The existing pool deck was removed and expanded and the pool resurfaced. The fence enclosure around the pool was pulled to the forest edge rather than immediately adjacent to the patio. This allowed the pool to feel more expansive and part of the forest beyond. The gazebo was replaced with a semicircular fire pit and a new screened in pergola was located closer to the house. New terraced garden beds not only retain grade but provide a sunny growing space for vegetables, herbs and cut flowers.
